Having fully analyzed the lifestyle and on-board requirements for the interior space of our clients, BISINI will undertake a series of strategic design stages known as the Design Process. The stages are as follows:
1. Space planning is the first stage of the yacht design process and defines the layout of the interior space. Through space planning BISINI aims to create a dynamic journey through the space utilizing available volume to its maximum. Initially our clients are presented with hand drawn sketch layouts which once approved are transposed to 2D CAD computer line drawings. While designing the layout BISINI will consider the navigation of guests and crew through the space defining the boundaries between private and public, utilizing full beam and natural light where possible. Ultimately each layout is created to suit the requirements of the client, and we pride ourselves in working meticulously in considering all options to obtain the most practical yet inventive solutions.
2. Following initial sign-off of a layout from the space planning stage the concept design stage can begin. Based on the client’s requirements and style preference, BISINI will create different design options for special treatments such as wall treatments and paneling, joinery details, furniture and finishes. We will use different formats to create these initial ideas from hand-drawn perspectives and 3D sketch models to sample boards describing materials and finishes. This presentation assists our clients in understanding the overall look and feel of the interior design prior to commencing the detail design stage.
3. The material and product specification stage collates and documents all the material finishes within the interior scheme, such as wood veneers, specialist glass, and soft furnishings including wall and floor coverings. In addition, products such as sanitary and kitchenware, lighting and audiovisual systems, furniture and door ironmongery are sourced from international suppliers and documented. At this stage BISINI will also research and include specialist items such as interior lifts and air conditioning. If at this stage it is not possible to source a product to fulfill the requirements of the scheme, BISINI will design for specialist custom-manufactured pieces. Once the products and proposed finishes have been presented to and approved by the client, the information will be recorded in a document - outlining the supplier details, dimensions, finishes and time allocated to manufacture. Each item and material is graphically represented on a separate page with its own code number, which in turn is annotated as required onto the detail drawing sheets. This helps the shipyard to understand the relationships between the detail design, finishes and products.
4. The detail stage of a yacht design follows the specification of materials and products to ensure that these elements are successfully integrated into the design. BISINI uses 2D CAD software to produce a package of accurate scaled drawings containing plans, sections, elevations, reflected ceiling plans and joinery details for the main contractor to convert to shop drawings from which to manufacture the interior finishes. Each project will have its own bespoke requirements to create special details and BISINI’s experience and knowledge of complex joinery manufacture are ideally suited to carry out this design stage to a high standard. To accompanying the drawing package BISINI also produces a scope of works document - a written description of the level of detail and quality that is required to be maintained during the manufacturing process, as well as outlining the performance of each material finish, fitting and product used. Following the completion of the detail design phase, the drawing package specification document and scope of works will be submitted to the main contractor for final cost analysis. Any changes that are required to be made to suit budget constraints or special manufacturing requirements will be made at this stage prior to the final sign-off and approval from our clients.
5. Once the finished design package for the interior scheme is put into production by the fit-out contractor or shipyard, BISINI carries out regular site visits to design manage this process. This means that during this stage we check that the integrity of the design is maintained, ensuring the highest standards of finish and craftsmanship are achieved. Regular design meetings are organized to offer further design support to the shipyard, thereby to monitor any variation orders that may arise, and facilitating the project’s completion on time and on budget. Notes are issued from each design meeting to keep our clients fully up-to-date with the progress of their project. To complete the service BISINI is able to attend sea-trials and produce the document of homologation for hand-over once manufacture is complete.

With a unique and dynamic approach to this discipline, BISINI creates super yacht profiles that capture the visions of our clients. We are as comfortable recreating classic lines as designing revolutionary and contemporary profiles. The key to BISINI is that we listen to our clients’ requirements, enabling us to share their vision and helping to making each project unique.
1. Sketch Development + Exterior Styling
Having established a comprehensive brief from our clients, designing the exterior of the yacht starts with some hand drawn sketch ideas of profile options to establish key dimensions such as length, beam and draft. At this stage we will also be considering the interior layout and technical systems that need to be included, checking we are creating the correct interior volume against our exterior lines.
2. Space Layout + Circulation Study
It is by including ideas for the interior layout at this early stage that we are able to ensure that both exterior and interior will synchronize. We are happy to work-up our own interior layout for this stage or work with third-party proposals.
3. Exterior Specification + Details
During this preliminary design stage we will also consider positions for exterior details such as stairs, Pascrell’s, cranes, tenders and fly bridge equipment. We also support our line drawings with 3D sketches that help explain additional details for the glazing, deck surface and superstructure.
4. Line Plans + 2D CAD package
Following consultation and approval with our client we then progress to a more measured and accurate 2D rendering of the profile in conjunction with a top deck view, aft and bow views and sections. The top deck view will help to indicate the proposed detailing for teak decking, the position of Jacuzzis and other ancillary equipment; the sections help to establish floor and head heights. These drawings are created using software packages such as Vector Works, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator that generate a crisp and dimensionally accurate detailed presentation.
5. Presentation
Following completion of a 2D colour visual, BISINI are well equipped to take the presentation to the next level. We can create high quality 3D Alias visuals as well as computer generated animations to display every angle and nuance of the exterior lines. We are able to drop in comprehensive detailing and dramatic use of light and colour. Some of our clients have found this an invaluable tool to help fully visualize the exterior.
6. Exterior design management
To complete the service BISINI is able to attend sea-trials and produce the document of homologation for hand-over once manufacture is complete.
